The "Sloping-lid" E.M.G C.1936

This "Improved Mark IX. type Cabinet" was introduced in 1936. There are no known advertisements for this model and the only documentation comes from an E.M.G catalogue from 1936 where it is advertised as the "Mark X.A. with Improved Mark IX. type Cabinet". This cabinet has been found with the Mk Xa horn and the infamous 22" horn of the Mk IX which droops and often collapses onto itself. The case is so short that the conduit literally protrudes out of the bottom.
With the Mk Xa horn this model sold for a bargain price of £22.10.0 and presumably even cheaper with the Mk IX horn. An austerity model for the Great Depression and also a rival for the EXPERT models.
The example featured here with the prominent Horseshoe 2-spring soundbox, is surprisingly versatile and shines in a smaller room. The Mk X examples picture is from a recent auction.
